General
All of the ingredients in Chem-Dry’s primary carpet and upholstery cleaner, The Natural®, are on the FDA’s Generally Recognized as Safe list and are safe for your carpets, your home, your children, and your pets. The Natural® is non-toxic, green-certified, and does not contain any soaps or harsh chemicals.
No, Dr. Chem-Dry is not a steam cleaner. Steam cleaners employ soap and a great deal of water in their cleaning process. Chem-Dry does neither of these things; instead we use a much lighter application of a hot carbonated cleaning solution.
Carpet Cleaning
Dr. Chem-Dry’s carpet cleaning process is better and healthier than other methods. Our unique method uses the power of hot carbonation to extract dirt and grime from carpets, giving them a deeper and longer lasting clean. Our method uses a fraction of the liquid required by steam cleaning. Less liquid means shorter drying times; our carpets dry in two hours or less, virtually eliminating the possibility of mold or mildew growth. Chem-Dry’s signature cleaning solution, The Natural®, is also non-toxic, green-certified, and safe for children and pets.
Most new carpets come with a factory-applied protectant, but this wears off over time. Re-applying a protectant can help your carpets resist stains and soiling; your carpets will stay cleaner, for longer. Another reason carpet protectant is a smart investment is that it slows aging and wear, extending the life of your carpets.
Many professional cleaning companies just mask the smell of pet urine. The only way to remove pet urine odors for good is to eliminate their source. After pet urine dries, it remains in the form of millions of concentrated urine crystals. These crystals have a pungent odor, as do the bacteria that feed on them. Chem-Dry’s patented Pet Urine Removal Treatment, or P.U.R.T.® completely breaks these crystals down, removing 99.9% of the odor; our treatment also removes more than 99% of the bacteria.
Many carpet cleaners, including steam cleaners, use soaps and detergents in their process. These often leave a sticky residue that actually attracts dirt, which in turn leads to faster re-soiling and more frequent carpet cleanings. Chem-Dry’s cleaning solution uses hot carbonation instead of soaps or detergents; it won’t leave behind a sticky residue and won’t attract dirt.
After a Dr. Chem-Dry professional cleaning, it typically takes 1-2 hours for the carpet to dry. Drying time depends on humidity levels, airflow to the cleaned areas, and the type of carpet cleaned; in general, turning on your air conditioning or fans will help accelerate dry times. In any case, our carpet cleanings take much less time to dry than a typical steam cleaning, which can take one to two days.
Industry experts suggest that homeowners clean their carpets every 3-6 months – especially homes with kids or pets or if an occupant has asthma or allergies. Regular carpet cleaning will not only improve your home’s appearance, but will eliminate germs and allergens, improve your home’s indoor air quality, and extend the life of your carpeting.
This is not necessary. Vacuuming your carpets with our commercial, HEPA-filtered vacuum is a standard part of our service, a step Dr. Chem-Dry takes before every carpet cleaning.
Our primary cleaner is called The Natural® – Chem-Dry’s patented all-natural, green-certified cleaning solution. The Natural® doesn’t contain any soaps or phosphates and is non-toxic, hypo-allergenic, and safe for children and pets. Where most steam cleaners use soaps, detergents, and harsh chemicals in their process, The Natural® employs hot carbonation to release dirt and grime.
The Chem-Dry carpet cleaning process requires much less liquid to clean effectively – 80% less than typical steam cleaning. That’s because our carbonated cleaner, The Natural, uses the action of millions of microscopic bubbles to release carpet stains and lift them up to where they can be easily be removed. This low-water, low-pressure approach results in much faster drying times.
Yes. Typical steam cleaning requires large amounts of soapy water in order to work; as more water is used, more will be left behind. Typical steam-cleaned carpets are much wetter than ours and take much longer to dry – as much as one or two days. When carpets have such long drying times, there is a much greater likelihood that mold or mildew will grow in the carpet.
Most rooms are the same, but not all of them. There may be an additional area charge for any rooms larger than 200 square feet.
Area & Oriental Rug Cleaning
Yes. Our effective, yet gentle, area rug cleaning and drying process preserves the dye within the fibers of your rug, leaving the colors of your rug vibrant and fresh. Better yet: Our professional rug cleaning solution won’t leave behind any dirt-attracting residues; this will help your area rugs to stay cleaner, for longer.
Yes. In fact, many of our rugs are cleaned using The Natural® – the same patented, all natural, child- and pet-safe cleaner that we use so effectively on carpeting and upholstery.
Why should I have my area and oriental rugs cleaned?
As area rugs usually receive a lot of traffic, they tend to collect more than their share of ground-in dirt and allergens. This can make them look dull and dingy, and that’s just the start. Just like carpets and upholstered furniture, area rugs act as air filters, trapping dirt, allergens, and bacteria; when rugs get too dirty, they can no longer filter the air. A thorough, professional rug cleaning is the only way to remove deep-down dirt and help to maintain your air quality.
Upholstery Cleaning
We clean upholstery gently and effectively using our proprietary hot carbonated cleaning solution, The Natural®. We lightly apply our carbonated solution, letting our bubbles work to release dust, soil, stains, and allergens from the upholstery fibers; then we use our powerful, truck-mounted extraction equipment to pull it all up and away. The end result is a deeper, healthier upholstery cleaning than other alternatives.
How long does it take for furniture to dry?
Most of our upholstery cleanings dry within just a couple of hours; in some cases, depending on the fabric and soil condition, your furniture my need to dry overnight.
Yes. After our cleaning, you can arrange for us to stain-guard your furniture with Chem-Dry’s Upholstery Protectant.
In homes that have carpet, up to 80% of the dust and dirt brought into the home can end up in your furniture and upholstered fabrics. This can make your furniture look dull and dingy, and that’s just the start. If you don’t effectively remove that dust, your indoor air quality can and will suffer as a result.
Stone, Tile & Grout Cleaning
Stone, tile and grout are porous and can be penetrated by dirt, grime, and other staining materials. Eventually, routine cleanings will no longer be enough to remove deep-down stains; when this happens, your stone and tile will begin to look dull and dingy despite your best efforts. A thorough, professional stone, tile and grout cleaning is the only way to restore the original brightness and cleanliness.
Why should I have my grout lines sealed?
Just like carpet, grout is a porous material that absorbs soil and spills. Dr. Chem-Dry can apply a grout sealant that creates a protective barrier, giving you more time to clean up potential stains before they can penetrate; the type of sealant you choose will determine the degree of stain resistance.
Many factors can affect how frequently your tile or grout needs to be cleaned; these include the level of foot traffic, the presence of children or pets, and how well floors are maintained between cleanings. That said, if routine cleaning is no longer able to restore the appearance of your stone, tile, or grout, it’s probably time for a professional cleaning.
